Howard Weston Sample, 40, who died Thursday, May 25 1961, r in the Williamsport Hospital following the accident, which occurred near Allenwood on Route 15, lived here recently with a brother, Vernon, 631 East Clinton Street.
He was a native of Warren PA, son of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Sample, and had worked recently on pipeline construction a the Kellogg Co. Power and Piping Division in Williamsport.
Mr. Sample suffered fatal injuries al 5.15 a. m. yesterday. Sample died 6 hours later in the Williamsport Hospital.
The group of men in the car he was driving were said to be going to Harrisburg.
Mr. Sample served in the Army Medical Corps during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion, the V.F.W.. the Castanea Fire Co., the Loyal Order of Moose and the Eagles Lodges.
He was survived by six children, Joyce, Artis and Joseph, Renovo; Cathy, Rodessa and Michael of North Tonawanda, New York, his brother, Vernon, two sisters, Mrs. Vivian Hamm, Jersey Shore, and Mrs. Volorea Sheasley of Lock Haven.
Also surviving were his stepfather, Leon Jones. Bloomsburg; and the following half-brothers and sisters, Mrs. Robert Allison, Jersey Shore; Sgt. Harry F. Jones, Lowery AFB, Denver, Colorado: Mrs. William Bitner. Lock Haven R. D. 1; Ronald Jones, Lock Haven; and Mrs. Romaine Reynolds, N. Tonawanda, New York.
His funeral services were conducted at the Helt Funeral Home, Lock Haven, with the Reverend Roy H. Hunter officiating.
Interment was in Dunnstown Cemetery.
