Clarence W. Eshelman, 89, Roaring Spring, died unexpectedly on Sunday afternoon at his daughter's home in Williamsburg.
He was born in Bakers Summit, son of the late Frank T. and Virgie I. (Miller) Eshelman.
On Aug. 4, 1949, he married R. Jeannette Claar in Cumberland, Md., and she preceded him in death on Jan. 20, 2006.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda E. Eastep and husband, Donald, of Williamsburg; two grandchildren: Jason Eastep and wife, Diana, of Miami, Fla., and Adam Eastep and wife, Angela, in Suffolk, Va.; three great-grandchildren: Noah, Mateo and Lucas Eastep; and two brothers: Charles Eshelman and H. Daniel Eshelman and wife, Bonnie, both of Altoona.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Marie Weaver and Alice Beach; and three brothers: Paul, Jess and Elvin.
Clarence was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving in the Army Corps of Engineers in the Philippines. He retired from New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co. in 1985 with over 25 years of service. He was a member of First Church of the Brethren, Roaring Spring, and he enjoyed doing yardwork, gardening and traveling.
Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2016, at Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2016, at First Church of the Brethren, Roaring Spring, where military honors will be provided by the Blair County Veterans Honor Guard.
Interment will be made in Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
Contributions in Clarence's memory may be given to First Church of the Brethren, 901 Bloomfield St., Roaring Spring, PA 16673.
