William Claud Bailey, 74, of Leoma, TN, died Thursday, Jul. 22, 2004, at NHC of Lawrenceburg, TN. He was a native of Lawrence Co., TN, a carpenter, a farmer and a member of the Church of Christ. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was awarded a Silver Star with cluster and two Purple Hearts. Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his parents, Horace Greeley "Jack" Bailey and Minnie Belle Lumpkins Bailey; two sisters, Anna Margaret Bailey McCracken Wright and Bessie Lurlene Bailey; three brothers, Robert Bruce, Charles Edward and Horace Greeley "Jack" Bailey, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Marietta Ann "Mary" Swartz Bailey of Leoma, TN; son, William Richard Bailey and wife, Lynn of Lawrenceburg, TN; one brother, Horace E. Bailey of Leoma, TN; four sisters, Mildred Belew and Polly Bass, both of Lawrenceburg, TN, Mary Alice Fetzer of Ethridge, TN and Joan Marie Bailey of Franklin, TN. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jul. 24, 2004 at Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home with Bobby Belew officiating. Internment followed in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Lawrence Co., TN. The American Legion Post 146 and VFW Post 1618 performed Honor Guard Rights.
