Forrest Andrew Abell was born May 25, 1914 in W. Salisbury (Elk Lick Twp) PA to Clark Waverly Abell originally of Martinsburg, WV and Rosezetta Kerns Abell, originally of Paw Paw, WV. By 1920 Census they are living in Elk Lick, Pa along with siblings Lawrence, Alvin and Iva. Father is a Coal Miner. By the 1930 Census, Ward and Edward have joined the family.

He was employed as a grocery delivery driver in the Somerset, PA and Cumberland, MD area as a young man. At age 25, he went to Forrest Hills Gardens in New York City at the start of the 1939 World's Fair to help manage a boarding house for Fair employees coming in from out of state. There he met and eventually married Marion G. Nealey of Houlton, ME, a secretary working in the area. After the end of the World's Fair, he moved to East Orange, NJ.

He was employed by Otis Elevator Company in Harrison, NJ as a supervisor in the Elevator Control Division, and as a coordinator of several special WWII projects, such as manufacturing of aircraft guidance systems and the Lead-Computing Gunsight. He also was involved in the manufacturing of the WWII Link Trainer pilot training simulator.

He and his family moved to Chatham, NJ in the 1950's, where he had designed and single-handedly built the family home, utilizing carpentry skills learned from his father, who had specialized in custom woodworking for the Penn Hotels of central and western Pennsylvania. After 21 years, he took early retirement when Otis Elevator was purchased by United Technologies and moved its operations to Yonkers, NY. He then became a licensed New Jersey real estate broker, employed by Freeway Realty, Mortgage and Construction Company. He became General Manager and was promoted to Vice President during his tenure with Freeway. He then retired, and became an independent broker in Morris County, New Jersey, owning and operating Forrest Realty, in Summit, NJ for six years.

After the passing of Marion, he met and married June Anderson of Summit, NJ, who also worked as a real estate broker in the area and, eventually, for Forrest Realty. His hobbies were fixing cabinet-style radios and the original black and white tv's, gardening, bowling, writing, and piloting his own plane with a local flying club in NJ. His generosity, sense of humor and genuine caring for people was his trademark. Friends and family will also remember him as the author of two books of short stories "Nine Tales" and "Happenstance" compiled about his life growing up in rural Pennsylvania and his experiences in New York and New Jersey.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #55 Maple Chapter, Union, NJ, and also a member of Masonic Lodge #7 Essex Chapter, Burlington, NJ and was designated as a Master Mason in 1943. His other affiliations were the New Jersey Board of Realtors; Tuskawilla Methodist Church and Grace Presbyterian Church of Winter Springs.
