Richard David, more commonly known as Ricky, was born in Oakland, California. He was the second of seven children born to the union of Louis Blake, Jr. and Doris Mae Chapman. After attending Oakland High School, Ricky joined the United States Army where he fought and became a veteran of the Vietnam War. He received an honorable discharge from the military and returned to Oakland to work in his trade as a Machinist at U S Steele and Ron Rob Corporations. Ricky later met and married the love of his life in Oakland, Kim Moore, on January 1, 1982.
Ricky knew and loved the Lord Jesus and he cherished his friends, loved his family and other relatives. He was a great step-father and a good husband. Ricky was a loving caring person who always had something to say. He liked to joke and to be funny. He liked classics and Army movies, was into old school music and enjoyed history.
His mother, Doris Mae Russell; brother, Marcus Blake and grand mother Georgiana White preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his passing: his wife, Kim Blake, daughter, Aledria Blake, grand daughter Savannah Williams, stepson, Bryan Hogan, father, Louis Blake, Jr., sisters: Bernadette Bradford, Kim Pedescleaux and Patricia Woods, brothers-in-law, Keith Pedescleaux and Howard Woods: along with many nieces and nephews. Ricky leaves many other dear friends and relatives to mourn his passing.
