SOUTH YARMOUTH - Catherine M. (Sestito) Picariello, died Thursday, Nov. 9, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, after a brief illness.

She was the wife of James J. Picariello of South Yarmouth.

Mrs. Picariello was born, raised and educated in Malden, and was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School. After marrying her husband of 55 years, James J. Picariello, they settled and raised their family in West Newton. They moved to Yarmouth in 1975, and enjoyed spending time with their children, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Richard J. and his wife, Olivia Cheever of Needham, Joseph J. and his wife, Karen Reinthaler of Williamsburg, Va., and her daughter, Nancy Bestford and her husband, Robert of Sandwich.

A funeral will be held Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006, at 9 a.m., from the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, Station Avenue, South Yarmouth. Burial will follow in Chandler Gray Cemetery, West Yarmouth. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday, Nov. 13, from 4 to 8 p.m.
