Jim was born in Mahaska Co, IA, near Rose Hill, to Oscar and Georgia Douglas Allgood. He was raised in Malcom, Iowa and attended public school there. On January 2, 1941, he was married to Betty L. Cram in Brooklyn, IA. The couple farmed near Malcom and in 1956 they moved to Grinnell. While living in Grinnell he worked for Parish and Cram Refrigeration Company. In 1967, the family moved to Wilton, Iowa and he was employed by the REC until his retirement in the early 1980s. Following his retirement the couple returned to Grinnell to make their home. Jim was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing in Canada with his family. He also enjoyed hunting and most sporting events. He passed away in Grinnell, Poweshiek Co, IA. He is survived by his wife, Betty Allgood of Grinnell; two sons, Jim (Mary Jane) Allgood of Ankeny and Jack Allgood of Grinnell; one daughter, Carol Jordan of Grinnell; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and one sister, Viola Livezey of Wellman, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Jarod Allgood; and several brothers and sisters.
