EFFINGHAM WOMAN DIES of "LACK OF NUTRITION"
Jury Cites Growth in Throat as Factor in Death
EFFINGHAM--"Lack of nutition" was blamed Saturday for the death of Mrs. John Davis, 62 who dies 1 p.m. Friday in St. Anthony's Hospital, where she was taken early the same day.
An inquest was conducted Friday night, at which the above verdict was returned.
Mrs. Davis suffered a broken hip late in July and also was suffering from yellow jaundice at the time of her death. It was revealed she had a growth on her aesophagus which, it was pointed out, may have been a factor in her inability to take nourishment.
The Davis family had been receiving $29 per month for food supplies through the relief work of Mrs. Davis stepson, Artie Davis. In addition the family received $2.80 each month for milk.
All the members of the coroner's jury but one are on relief and that one has been on relief, it was reported.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Davis leaves a step-daughter, Louella Davis, and her step-son Artie and his wife.
