Mr. Nevill was born in Greenville, Texas to Cornelia Moore Nevill and Charles Phillip Nevill. The family moved to Dallas where he completed high school at Highland Park. He attended Southern Methodist University and The University of Texas in Austin. He moved to Kingsville and graduated from Texas A&I University in 1942 with a degree in natural gas engineering. He left graduate school in Chicago to enter the Air Force. He was commissioned in 1944 as a second lieutenant. After service in California, he was stationed on Guam until the end of World War II. He married Jeanne Marie Curtis from California on August 18, 1946. He worked as a professional engineer with Lone Star Gas, Southern Union Gas Co. and Fish Engineering Service Corp. His work took him from northern Saskatchewan to southern Mexico. In 1991 he was awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the Southern Gas Association. Mr. Nevill retired in 1985 as Vice President of Houston Pipe Line and other companies. He immediately took over the Dotterweich Chair at Texas A&I University and remained there until 1990. He was a Distinguished Alumni of Texas A&M Kingsville. Mr. Nevill was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a former member of the Board of the Friends of the Conner Museum. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Jeanne Nevill of Kingsville; two sons, Richard A. (Cathy) Nevill of San Antonio, Texas and Glenn Phillip (Charlene) Nevill of San Francisco, California; one daughter, Lynne Marie (Jeff) Smiley of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Margaret Whitson of Tyler, Texas; two grandchildren, Charles Curtis Nevill of Austin, Texas and Frances Jeanne Nevill of Portland, Oregon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
