Charles Mueller, 85, retired town of Mishicot farmer, and founder
of the first cheese factory in the Saxonburg area, died at his home
one mile east of Mishicot Sunday.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock from
the Zion Evangelical Church with the Rev. F.E. Schlueter officiating.
Interment will be in the Mishicot public cemetery.
Mr. Mueller was born in the town of Mishicot on March 24, 1858, and
lived there all his life with the exception of ten years in early
life when he clerked in a store in Plymouth. In 1880, he founded his
first cheese factory at Saxonburg and operated it for ten years. This
is now the Saxonburg Cooperative Dairy. Thereafter he farmed.
On Dec. 21, 1886, he was married to Miss Pauline Fischer.
He was a life member of Zion Evangelical Church and was an officer of
the old church at Saxonburg and of the new church in Mishicot in the
building of which he took an active part.
Survivors are the widow; one daughter, Mrs. Adolph Eisenmann of
Mishicot; three sons, Wilbert at home, Chester of Seattle, Washington,
and Milton of this city; three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Fischer of St.
Paul, Minnesota, and the Misses Pauline and Ida Miller, Osh Kosh; one
brother, William Miller of Dubuque, Iowa; and 16 grandchildren.
The body will lie in state at the Specht Funeral Home in Mishicot from
Tuesday morning until Thursday morning when it will be taken to the
church to lie in state until the time of the services.
