Charles Frederick Fetterman "Charlie," 85, a resident of Richmond, Va., for the past year and previously of Edgewater, Md., for more than 27 years, died on July 2, 2016, in Richmond.
He was born in Flemington to the late Joseph F. and Pearl Garnhart Fetterman. In 1948, after Charlie graduated from Lock Haven High School, he served on active duty in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at McGuire Air Force Base in Fort Dix, N.J. He continued serving for 20 more years in the U.S. Air Force Reserve attaining the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. Charlie also worked for the federal government and retired from the Government Printing Office in 1991. He was preceded in death by his wife Juliette Truchon Fetterman whom he married on Feb. 13, 1950, and who died on July 28, 2014. He was also predeceased by his brother, Joseph R. Fetterman; his sister, Shirley E. Myers; his half-brothers, Storres C. and George A. Winters.
He is survived by his son, Vincent Fetterman and wife Dawn of Shady Side, Md.; his daughters, Diane Rice and her husband Mike of Leesburg, Va., and Debra Cook and her husband Barry of Edgewater, Md.; his grandchildren, Douglas Cook and his wife Kirsten, and Tracy Palmer and her husband KC, and four great-grandchildren, all of Edgewater, Md.
A graveside service, with military honors, was held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 14 at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, Md.
