OBITUARY: Richard Lamkin - reprinted from the Bakken-Young Funeral Home website

Richard H. Lamkin, aka “Dick", aka “Tiger”, age 91 and lifelong resident of North Hudson, died on Friday, July 1, 2016 at the Linden Golden Living Center in Stillwater, MN.

Dick was born the son of Arthur and Amelia (Simonson) Lamkin on June 12, 1925 in the home he still resides in in North Hudson. He attended Hudson High School. He served in the Navy in WWII in the South Pacific. On March 3, 1945, he was married to Margaret Elizabeth Chambers in San Diego, CA. After completing his service in the Navy, they returned to North Hudson. Dick tended bar at Sam’s for a short time, then began his career as a plasterer. He worked for several contractors in St. Paul, MN and was a member of the St. Paul Plasterer’s Union Local 61.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening, going to auctions and collecting guns. He liked to travel with Peggy and loved dogs. Dick had a strong personality and good sense of humor. He would do anything for his family and friends, and was a great grandpa.

He is preceded in death by his father, Arthur Lamkin; mother, Amelia (Sig) Borge; wife, Peggy Lamkin; and grandson, Jason Lamkin.

Dick is survived by his children, Patty Griffin, Andy (Natalie) Lamkin, Mark (Katie) Lamkin, Stephen Lamkin, Micheal (RoxAnne) Lamkin, Drew (Mary) Lamkin; grandchildren, Lance Griffin, Ronette Griffin, Cadi (Ken) Stricklin, Hans Peter Lamkin, Taylor Lamkin, Maddie Lamkin, De’ja‘ Lamkin, Joshua Lamkin; many great-grandchildren; brother, Dorwin Lamkin; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A private graveside service was held on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Willow River Cemetery in Hudson, WI. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of Hudson.
