Ronceverte, July 9. - The people of Sue, this county, and surrounding community were recently shocked and saddened by the death of Rev Jacob A Perry who passed from time to eternity last Friday evening, June 30, 1916, aged 60 year. Rev Perry met with a very distressing accident Thursday evening as he was leaving the home of his brother, J S Perry. He had only proceeded a short distance on his way home when his horse which he was riding stumbled, throwing him heavily to the ground, thereby inflicting injuries which caused his death 22 hours later. However, he was not rendered unconscious and his cries for help were heard by Mr A H Trainer who hurried to his assistance. Mr Trainer called the aged minister's brother, J S Perry, and together they managed to get him to the latter's house where he remained until his death. Drs Kincaid and McFerren were hurriedly called, but they pronounced his injuries fatal, as the shock had paralyzed his entire body from the neck down. The body of the deceased was laid to rest in Little Creek cemetery in the presence of a large crowd to await the resurrection.
