Dr. A. Noble Da Shiell, 90, went peacefully to be with the Lord on June 27, 2016 in Dublin, CA. He was a resident of Stockton, CA and spent much of his life in Castro Valley and Hayward.

Born on June 21, 1926 in Des Moines, IA, Dr. Da Shiell enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944 after graduating from high school. In addition to his artillery assignment on the USS Iowa, he was also a clarinetist in the Navy band and played at the surrender ceremony.
After the war, Dr. Da Shiell attended Drake University and studied medicine at the Des Moines Still College of Osteopathy and Surgery. After completing his residence training at the Los Angeles County Hospital, he began practicing medicine in Hayward in 1955. In 1962, he received his M.D. degree from UC Irvine. In 1988, Dr. Da Shiell moved to Stockton and practiced medicine in county and state hospitals until his retirement in 2005. From 2006 to 2007, Dr. Da Shiell provided free care to migrant farm workers. He was also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Da Shiell spent much of his life working at youth camps and missionary hospitals. In 1963, he founded Bethesda Home in Hayward for elderly missionaries. In 1971, Bethesda became the Christian Retirement Center of Northern California, Inc.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diana Da Shiell Mau.

Dr. Da Shiell is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Woodruff Da Shiell and his children: Mark (Patricia) Da Shiell of Canonsburg, PA, Beth (Gary) Wilson of San Lorenzo, CA, Carol (Ron) Wong of Dublin, CA; grandchildren: April (Mike) Byers, Diana (Jarod) Wriedt, Allisen Da Shiell, Samuel Wilson, Jacob Wilson, Rose Wilson and TJ Wilson; and great-grandchildren: Donavin Colson Findley, Shane Byers, Natalie Wriedt, Lucas Wriedt, and Isabelle Wriedt.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 5, at Mountain View Cemetery, 5000 Piedmont Ave, Oakland, CA.
