Evan Harper Beals was the son of John Painter Beals and Elizabeth Ann Harper. He was the grandson of Woodruff Beals, a Cambellite Minister who's family emigrated from Hingham England to Hingham Mass., in 1650. Evan's father was a farmer in Indiana later moving to Pomona, Kansas. Evan met Amanda Peterson in Florence, Fremont Co., Colorado. They were married July 15, 1901 in Florence, Co. They moved to Silverton, Oregon in 1923 where they owned a farm in the Howell Prairie area. Evan and Amanda are at rest in Valley View Cemetery.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday February 12, 1969 at the Ekman Unger Chapel for Evan H. Beals, Sr., 85, Rt. 2, Box 205 Silverton, who died Saturday. Interment will be in Valley View Cemetery, Silverton, OR.
Beals, a native of Indiana, was a farmer and a carpenter.
Surviving are the widow, Amanda (Peterson), Silverton, sons, John (Eunice Duffield), Silverton, Evan, Jr.(Olga Hagen), Springfield, Cecil (Mina Kavern), Cornelius, and Glenn (Jean Kumm), Vern (Darlene Espe), Bremerton, WA; daughters; Mrs. Ruth Epple (John), Colorado, Mrs Hazel Albin (William), Salem, and Mrs. Bertha Dunn (Percy), Silverton; two sisters Eunice Beals Monniger, Emma Beals Osborn, 19 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
