She was raised and educated in Joliet and went on to earn her nursing certificate from Joliet Junior College. Kay was employed as a registered nurse at St. Joseph Hospital prior to gaining employment with Minooka Pharmacy. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Minooka.
Survivors include her two sons, David (Sally) Bretsch of Cedarburg, Wisconsin and Mark Bretsch of Peoria, Illinois; five grandchildren, Philip (Laura) Bretsch of Vancouver, Washington, Cory Bretsch of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Jordan Bretsch of New York City, Adam Bretsch of Cedarburg and Genevieve Bretsch of Peoria, and two great-granddaughters, Colbie and Kennedy.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband James L. Bretsch; her second husband Ralph Siron and her brother, Ramon J Granda, Jr.
