Judge. He was born to Congressman George W. Crockett, Jr. and Ethelene Crockett, M.D. He is better known as the judge who presided over the Malice Green case in Detroit, Michigan. In 1993, he made nationwide headlines when, as a judge of Detroit’s former Recorder's Court sentenced two police officers to prison for the murder of an unarmed Malice Green outside a crack house. The case became a cause to celebrate among those concerned about police brutality visited by white officers on black suspects. As a graduate of Windsor Mountain School, a famed progressive boarding school in Lenox, Massachusettes (Class of 1959), he served as the 1955 Windsor Mountain School Student Council President. He was a graduate of Morehouse College in 1961. He earned his Doctor of Law degree from the Detroit College of Law in 1964. Before going into private practice in Grand Rapids, Michigan, he practiced at Goodman, Crockett, Eden, Ronn and Philo in Detroit and also with Alfonse Lewis, Jr. in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He returned to Detroit in 1967 working in various judicial positions. In 1977 he was elected judge of the Recorder's Court of the City of Detroit, he joined his father on the same bench. He held this position until he retired in 2003 from the Third Judicial Circuit Court of Michigan. He died of lung cancer.
