Wyn Craig Wade, 62, author, teacher and psychologist, was born in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Wyndel C. Wade and Ruth Marie (Dishon).

Wyn is the internationally published author of two works of non-fiction: The Titanic: End of a Dream, New York Times bestseller in 1998, and The Fiery Cross, a comprehensive history of the Ku Klux Klan which received the 1988 Gustavus Myers Foundation Outstanding Book Award. In addition to his writing career he was a clinical psychologist and a musician.

After undergraduate studies in psychology at the University of Michigan, Wyn completed his master's degree in clinical psychology at the University of Wisconsin under the mentorship of renown psychotherapist and author Carl Rogers. His subsequent practice in clinical psychology began with the Wisconsin Division of Corrections and evolved to community mental health in Vermont, where he specialized in forensic, adolescent, and community psychotherapy.

He and his family returned to the Midwest in 1976 for post-graduate studies at Michigan State University, which were interrupted by an auto accident to his five-year-old son, prompting a career change. With the publication of The Titanic, he became a full-time writer, going on to write The Fiery Cross and articles for Time, Newsday, The Journal of Biological Psychology and Michigan History. From 1980-90, he appeared in nationally telecast documentaries, served as guest expert to a number of non-fiction television productions, and was the subject of an article in the New York Times Review of Books.
