Bernice Genevieve Carr Huntley
December 15, 1928 - July 3, 2016

Bernice Genevieve Carr Huntley peacefully passed away on July 3, 2016 in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Lorraine & Chris Riney. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Bernice was born in Los Angeles, California, the second of four children. She had her first dance with Forrest Huntley and six months later they were married. Together, they had three wonderful children, Jackie, Robert & Lorraine.

"Jack & Bunny" as they were also known, loved camping with their family throughout the western states.

Forrest built their sailboat and they had the time of their lives sailing around the San Juan Islands. Forrest & Bernice were married 57 years, before losing Forrest to Alzheimer's.

She and her daughter, Lorraine traveled to Norway, Panama Canal, The Mediterranean, Alaska and extensively throughout The United States.

Even though Bernice was fearful of heights she ziplined at age 72 in Alaska. She was proud of and loved attending sporting events, piano recitals, choir performances and plays for her great-grandchildren.

Bernice loved singing from a very young age and continued on to perform for Hollywood U.S.O and for 33 years in the Junction City Scandinavian Festival Choir, which she loved every minute of!

She lovingly and patiently cared for Forrest the last 10 years of his life.

While living in "the house that Jack built", she kept busy canning and freezing from their gardens and orchards. You could always count on seeing Bernice & Forrest enjoying iced tea on their bench for two during work breaks while building the sailboat.

Bernice was soft spoken and kept many thoughts to herself, but she was strong and determined.

She is survived by her children, Lorraine & Chris Riney, Bob and Zella Huntley, and Jackie Prociw, her grandchildren, Lorrie & Don Cook, Kevin & Lisa Prociw, Amy & Shaun Davis, Becky Loffelmacher, Melinda Mackey and Alex Huntley. Her great-grandchildren Heather, Kylin, Caleb, Annika and Zepeda.

We will forever miss Bernice's delightful singing voice and loving smile.

We wish to thank Cascade Hospice for their round the clock support.

There will be a graveside gathering at Willamette Memorial Park 2640 Old Salem Rd. NE Albany, Oregon on Friday July 8, 2016 at 1:00pm.

Arrangements entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary.
