Routh Bridgers Farley, 96, the widow of a retired commandant of the Coast Guard, died of respiratory failure June 2 at Mount Vernon Hospital. She lived in Alexandria.

Mrs. Farley was a native of Wilmington, N.C. In 1915, she married J.F. Farley, a Coast Guard officer. She accompanied him on his assignments across the United States. Adm. Farley retired in 1950.

They then lived in Alexandria until 1965 when they moved to Florida. They returned here in 1972. Adm. Farley died in 1974.

Mrs. Farley was a member of Immanuel Church-On-The-Hill Episcopal Church in Alexandria and the National Society of Colonial Dames. Her hobbies included gardening and golf.
