Roger Dean Bales was born February 20, 1960 to Visa June Wilson Bales and James Robert Bales Sr. in Ponca City, OK and was called to his Heavenly home on Friday, July 1, 2016 at the age of 56.
Rocky as he was affectionately called lived in the Ponca City area for most of his life.

Over his lifetime, Rocky worked for Santa Fe Railroad, owned & operated 2 nightclubs, ran a tree trimming & removal service, Lawn care service & firewood sales. Rocky hobbies included fishing & day trips. But the biggest hobby he enjoyed the most was cooking out with friends and family. His other hobbies were listening to all kinds of music, watching OU football, WWE wrestling and movies. As a young boy Rocky loved horses and spent every minute of every day riding & going on Trail Rides

Rocky is survived by his children, Sons – Rob Jones of Ponca City, Matthew Sullivan of North Carolina, Trever Bales Shrader of Ponca City and Shawn Bales of Perkins, OK, Daughter’s Lindsey Bales of Ponca City, Danielle Bales Ward & her husband Jeff Ward of Perkins OK, Haley Camejo of Virginia & Courtney Bales Shrader of Ponca City. 6 Grandchildren: Karlee, Reese, Julian, Morgan, Leo, Adalynn. Brothers: JR Bales, Jr. and his wife Michele of Stillwater, Ernie Bales and his wife Paula – of Ponca City, Steve Bales of Ponca City, and Sisters: Vicki Bales Navarre and her husband John of Trophy Club, TX, Deborah Bales Sharp and her husband Jeff of Stillwater, OK. Aunt Anita Bales of Brandon, Miss, Uncle: Gay Lorn “Sonny” Wilson and his wife Anna of Ponca City. Numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousins & friends.

Rocky was preceded in death by his Mother, Visa June Wilson Bales, his Father “JR”, James Robert Bales, Sr., Brother: Pete Epperson, 2 nephews: Thomas Blake "PYT" Bales and Scotty Bales & niece Neffney Bales. His best friend Scotty Column. Grandmothers Hattie G Wilson Horn & Minnie Mae Cook Bales Hand. Grandfathers Frances Gay Wilson & Zeb Bales. Step - grandfathers: Frank Horn & C.W. Hand. Uncles: Tony Neal Bales, Donald Dean Bales, Larry Gene Bales & Randy F Horn. Aunts: Oleta Marie Bales, Questa Price & Tawnya Horn.

A Memorial service with the Rev Adam Phillips officiating will be held Saturday July 9th at 3:30 PM at Free Will Baptist Church, 1900 E Hubbard Rd, Ponca City. Family & Friends are encouraged to bring memories, pictures & stories to share.

A Graveside Burial service will be held Monday, July 11th at 11:00 at the Longwood Cemetery, NE of Ponca City with the Rev Adam Phillips officiating. Pall Bearers will be Rocky’s Nephew’s: Chad Bales, Brandon Bales, Scott Navarre & Jerrod Sharp and Rocky’s friends: David Miller, Dannell Miller & David Moorehead. Honorary Pall Bearers: Robert Bales, Todd Bales, Kelby Bales, Christopher Navarre, Jeffrey Navarre, John Navarre, Michael Bales, John Robert Sharp, Jeff Sharp, Kennard Bales, Alvin Leroy Thompson, David Newlin, Rick Cochran, Gay Lorn “Sonny” Wilson, Kevin Wilson, Robert Feaster, James Ray Bales, Curtis Bales, Ralph Epperson & Cody Epperson.
