Long Time Valley Resident Had Been in Poor Health for Long Time

Gustave Adolph Fredrick Dobberstine was born Jan. 31, 1880 near Hampton, Nebr., and passed away at Ord, Oct. 21, 1947 at the age of 67 years, 8 months and 21 days.
He was baptized and confirmed in the German Lutheran church near Hampton. In 1910 he was married to Miss Rose Corwin of Cotesfield, and to this union was born one daughter, Mrs. Willard Conner of Ord, and three sons, David and Donald of Ord, and Charles of Omaha.
He engaged in farming and carpenter work until his health failed. He had been in poor health for a long time, having a serious heart ailment.
He is survived by his wife, his four children, seven grandchildren, eight sisters; Mrs. Emilie Bernth, Mrs. Augusta Schlotfeldt, Mrs. Albert Hanke, Mrs. Otis Fent, Mrs. Ida Rickert and Miss Minnie Dobberstine, all of Grand Island, Mrs. Walter Larrabee, of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Hugh Ball of Portland, Ore. He also leaves two brothers, John of Ord, and William of York, a large number of nieces and nephews and many friends.
He lived near Hampton and York until 1918 when he moved to Valley county, where he lived until 1936 when he moved to Polk, coming back to Ord in the fall of 1943.
Services were held at Hastings-Pearson chapel, Friday at 2:30 with Rev. Landgraf, of the German Lutheran church of Mira Valley officiating. Burial was in the family plot in the Graceland section of the Ord cemetery.
