Jean Ann Centko, 94, of Streator passed away Friday, July 8, 2016 at Parker Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Streator.
Private family funeral services will be Tuesday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Msgr. Philip Halfacre will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be Joe, Michael and James Centko, Jeffrey, Joshua and Jacob Goodin. Honorary Pallbearers will be James Centko and Michael Shrewsbury.
Born June 14, 1922 in Streator she was the daughter of Ralph and Mabel (Talbot) Shrewsbury. She married Joseph A. Centko on July 29, 1947 at St. Stephen’s Church, Streator. He preceded her in death on December 27, 1989.
She is survived by a daughter Susan (Jeffrey) Goodin of Pekin; a son, Joseph Centko of Streator; grandchildren, Jacob Schmit of South Pekin, Joshua Schmit of Pekin; step-grandchildren, Alec Goodin of Pekin and Hailey Goodin of Malden, Massachusetts; several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and one brother, John Shrewsbury.
Born and raised in Streator she attended Streator grade schools and Streator High School.
She worked through the years for Chicago Bridge and Iron Shipyards in Seneca during WW II. She later worked at the Kaiser Store in Dwight.
She was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Parish, Streator.
Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
