George Jay Hunter, 92, died Thursday, June 30, 2016, at Galeon in Oaskis.

A Mass of Christian burial was held Saturday, July 9, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre.

George Jay Hunter was born September 16, 1923, in Minneapolis to John and Pearl (Nelson) Hunter. He married Jacquelin Virginia Enright September 24, 1943, prior to leaving for Europe for WWII. He was a member of the US Army Air Corps 8th Air Force, 385th Bomb Group, 550th Squadron. He flew 32 missions as a ball turret gunner, many of which were in the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress “RumDum.”
