James "Ronnie" Abene, 71 of Abita Springs passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2016 in Covington. He was born on April 8, 1945, in Mobile, Alabama to Leon and Delores Abene. Ronnie enjoyed life and loved racing, his favorite drivers were Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Dale Earnhardt, Jr., he loved classic rock music and concerts, collecting and restoring muscle cars, he especially loved his corvettes and was a diehard LSU fan, also he loved spending time with family and friends.
Ronnie is survived by his loving wife Mary Abene and stepdaughter, Michelle Cantu, also many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
He is preceded in death by parents, Leon and Delores Abene.
A Visitation for Ronnie will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2016 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond. A Funeral Service Celebrating Ronnie's life will immediately follow visitation at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Tickfaw Catholic Cemetery in Tickfaw.
