Elizabeth "Betty" Clara Anderson, 96, of Cloquet, died Monday, June 20, 2005 in Sunnyside Health Care Center in Cloquet.
She was born September 2, 1908 in Atkinson Township to Anton and Mathilda (Sjoberg) Hogberg. She graduated from Coleraine High School in 1926. Betty moved to Duluth where she worked as a telephone operator at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company until 1933.
She married Allen Anderson on January 31, 1941 and together they made their home in Scanlon. She went back to work for the telephone company in the Cloquet office in 1942, retiring in 1963. Her husband, Allen died in May of 1950.
On October 8, 1955, Betty married Lynford Anderson.
Betty was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed her home on Sand Lake where she loved to work in her flower gardens, and host family gatherings and reunions. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her first husband, Betty was preceded in death by her second husband, Lynford; sisters, Anna Carlson and Ruby Olson; and brothers, Oscar and Ernest Hogberg.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce (Jerry) Jerde of Cloquet; three grandchildren, Laurie Bartz, Paula (Michael) Stuermer, and Jeffrey (Flora) Jerde; eight great grandchildren, Mindi Meisner, Bryan Jerde, Kyle Bartz, Breanna Jerde, Alec Bartz, Brooke Stuermer, Brett Jerde, and Bridget Stuermer.
Funeral Services were held on Friday, June 24, 2005 in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet. Burial was in Atkinson Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet.
