Jamie Waymond Elder, 62, died May 19, 2006, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County. He was born Jan. 8, 1944, in Union County to the late Jamie Rowell and Mary Jane Richey Elder. He was a member of Oak View Baptist Church and a retired engineer for Mohasco. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Services were at United Funeral Service Chapel with burial in Keownville Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Linda Reed Elder; one daughter, Lori Beth Elder of New Albany; three sons, Steve Elder and wife, Sherry, and Michael Elder and wife, Amber, all of Pontotoc, and Jason Elder and wife, Barbara, of Corte Madera, Calif.; two sisters, Shirley White and husband, Robert, and Shelby Portis and husband, Bob, all of New Albany; one brother, Wendell Elder and wife, Linda, of New Albany; two grandchildren, Amy Smithey and husband, Brandon, and Olivia Elder; one great-grandchild, Max Carson Smithey.
