New Albany - Mary Jane Richey Elder, 79 died Monday, September 6, 1993, at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was a graduate of Blue Mountain College. She was a former school teacher and factory employee, and a member of the Keownville Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School. She was a widow of Jamie Rowell Elder.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at United Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Floyd Lamb and the Rev. Mike Sledge officiating. Burial will be in the Keownville Cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley White and Shelby Portis, both of New Albany, two sons, Wendell Elder and Waymond Elder, both of New Albany, two sisters, Bessie Donnahoo and Virgie Potter, both of Fort Worth, Texas; two brothers, Thomas Richey of Fort Worth, Texas, and Willis Richey of Mooreville; 15 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
