Barry was 16 years old when his father died.
He enlisted in the Marines and arrived at the San Diego MCRD, for his boot camp
training 10 August 1963.
When Barry arrived in Vietnam 19 May 1965, he was assigned to Subunit 1, Support Company, Service Battalion, 3rd Marine Division. After being in Vietnam for awhile Barry went on a R&R trip to Hong Kong. He was returning back to his unit and was aboard a KC-130F #149802, a military aircraft in that was going to transport Marines back to Danang, South Vietnam when the KC-130F crashed into the harbor immediately after taking off the run way. Barry and several Marines died during the aircraft crash.
Barry was single and served his country for at least 2 years.
His name was added to the Wall May 1983.
Survived by his mother, Violette Hambleton, his two brothers; Larry and Bruce Hambleton and a half-brother; Stewart Younglove of Toledo, Ohio.
