Jim was born May 5, 1933 in Tovey, IL to Italian immigrant parents, Pedro "Pete" and Louise Corso Borgognoni. He married Monica Jordan on September 7, 1963 in Farmersville; she preceded him in death on February 12, 2012.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked for Peabody Coal Company Mine #10 in Pawnee for 27 years. He then worked for the State of Illinois. He was active in coordinating the St. Jude's Bike-a-thon in Pawnee for many years. Jim was a member of Church of the Little Flower. He and Monica enjoyed short trips to play golf. He was an excellent dancer and also enjoyed playing cards and betting on horses. Most of all Jim enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Mary Beth Borgognoni; and siblings, Mary Mayer and Frank Borgognoni.
He will be missed by his daughter, Sheri (Jeff) Stauffer of Springfield; son, Michael (Jennifer) Borgognoni of Montgomery, IL; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Stauffer of Edwardsville, Jordan, and John Michael Stauffer of Springfield, and Quinn and Leah Borgognoni of Montgomery, IL; three nephews, James (Marcia) Mayer of Mt. Auburn, John (Stephanie) Mayer of Tovey, and Bill (Gayla) Borgognoni of Carbondale.
Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors.
