Coming to Washington from Iowa about 40 years ago, Mr. Brown shortly thereafter became connected with the War Department. About 25 years ago he became active in the work of the Central Union Mission and since then had been one of its guiding spirits. Shortly after taking up this work he was elected chairman of the board of directors and retained that position uninterruptedly. He was 73 years of age. Mrs. Brown, together with a son and daughter, Eugene C. and Miss Nellie Brown survive.
