Caroline Holcomb was born in Monroe County, Tennessee on January 3, 1844.
On June 27, 1869, in Monroe County, Tennessee, Caroline Holcomb married William Marion Lankford.
They had several children together, including Margaret Cornelia “Neely” Lankford (Breeden) and Alice Lankford (Tallent), who were both born before 1880. A son, William Lankford, was born to them in November 1885, according to the 1900 Census. According to the 1910 U.S. Federal Census, Caroline was a mother to a total of nine children and six are still living.
Caroline passed away on November 13, 1923, at the age of seventy-nine.
In 1924, Caroline's widower remarried, a younger widow, Mrs. Carrie Jones née Woods (1890-1980). He passed away in 1952, at the age of ninety-nine.
