She was born in the Woodrow, Saskatchewan district on October 20, 1920 . She received her education there and attended Normal School in Moose Jaw . Ruby taught at country schools in the Woodrow area and on November 4, 1942 she married Maurice Ridge at Woodrow. The couple spent five or six years in the Meyronne district where Ruby worked as a substitute teacher and eventually the couple settled in Shaunavon where Maurice worked for the next 20 years as a mechanic and parts man with Busse Bros. Implements. Ruby enjoyed being involved with the community and she played the piano in community dance bands with Maurice on the drums. She was a member of the Shaunavon Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She always needed to be busy and liked to help people, working at cleaning homes. Her own home was always open, with tea and cookies for any guest.

Ruby was predeceased by her husband Maurice on October 13, 2001 , her brothers, Bill, Bert, Ted, Lynn, Jim, Archie and Philip, and her sisters, Marion, Olive, Winnie and Phyllis.

She is survived by two daughters, Valerie Straub (Pete) of Leduc, Alberta and Linda Parson (Allan) of Penticton, B.C., four grandchildren, Crystal (John) of Port Coquitlam, B.C., Scott of Summerland, B.C., Michael of Edmonton, Alberta and David (Teresa) of Leduc, Alberta, six great grandchildren, Patricia, Lindan, Mitchell, Morgan, Carson and Conner, one brother, Sid Clampitt of Woodrow, Saskatchewan, one sister, Stella Preddy of Victoria, British Columbia and by numerous nieces and nephews.
