Walter Ross Young, 78, of Charleston died Oct. 19, 1996, in Memorial Division, CAMC, after a short illness. Son of Wesley H. and Mary (Leftwich) Young

He was retired from E.I. DuPont with 42 years' service. He was a member of the Baptist Temple and the American Legion.

He was a veteran of World War II and Korea and received a battlefield commission. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.

Surviving: wife, Betty Jean (FISHER)Young; sons, Rodney of Wichita, Kan., Walter R. II of Atlanta; daughters, Marilyn Cunningham of Clendenin, Dianna Young of San Rafael,Calif.; sisters, Janice Kauff of Cape Coral, Fla., Eva Dean of Jacksonville, Fla., Marion Petersen of Red Bluff, Calif., Ada Webb of Melbourne, Fla.; two grandchildren.
