For our grandchildren, great grandchildren, and the generations to follow...

In 1948, Phil Stephens was the first baby born on Christmas Day in Springfield, Ohio. He was the eldest child of Ronald W. and Mildred A. (Smith) Stephens.

Phil graduated from Beavercreek High School in 1967 and married his high school sweetheart, Gail Cooper, in 1968. He enlisted in the Army National Guard and upon his return from boot camp, continued his college education and graduated from Wright State University.

Phil was a Salesman for WDTN-2 in Dayton where he earned the reputation as being the Hearst Corporation's top Salesman in the tri-state area. He was later promoted to Local Sales Manager and was employed at WDTN for 14 years. Always aspiring to one day owning his own Advertising Agency, Phil eventually attained his dream and was Chairman/CEO of Stephens Advertising in Kettering, Ohio until his untimely and unexpected death.

In addition to his marketing genius, he was a true humanitarian and offered a helping hand to anyone who needed it... be it two or four-legged critters. Phil's sudden death inspired the creation of the children's book "Friends" by Liz Ball which is one of 6 Hidden Treasure books. It is dedicated as a legacy to Phil's charitable works. The book recounts a dream he had, and Phil was convinced this dream was an actual event... an Angel came to him and said, "For every good deed, a pea is put in your bowl. For every bad deed, a pea is taken out. In the end, all that matters to God is, how many peas are in your bowl."

Phil and his wife, Gail, loved to show horses which led them to purchase a farm and name it Saguaro Ranch. There, they successfully bred and raised world class and World Champion APHA halter horses. Among Phil's greatest pleasures was spending his leisure time riding his trail horse, mowing the grass, or picnicking while taking in nature's beauty at their farm.

His mother preceded him in death and is also buried at the Spring Valley Cemetery in the "Phil & Gail" Stephens Family plots, as is his granddaughter, Hope Finchum; his father-in-law, Richard "Chick" Cooper and mother-in-law, Estelle Cooper Dixon, his aunt and uncle by marriage, Virginia and Stanley Szczep.

Phil is survived by his wife of 35 years, Gail of Waynesville, OH; his children, Phillip Stephens of Springboro, OH and Lisa Finchum of Waynesville, OH; his daughter-in-law, Susan (Bryan) Stephens; son-in-law, Adam Finchum; granddaughter, Macy Taylor Stephens and grandsons, Tate Alexander Stephens and Adam Finchum. He is also survived by his father, Ronald of Sarasota, FL; and brothers, Douglas of Dallas, TX and Keith of Miami, FL; niece and Godchild, Emma Stephens of Dallas, TX; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty & Mike Daggitt of Reston, VA; niece and nephew, Susan Schnupp and Michael Daggitt of Ashburn, VA; and Godchild, Stephanie Breedlove of Spring Valley, OH.

Phil's proudest achievement was his family and there are no words to express how much he is loved and missed. We, his family and friends, are just thankful we had him as-long-as we did.
