Richard "Chick" Cooper was born in Albertson, New York to Richard and Elizabeth (Ross) Cooper, Sr.

Richard was an Army-Air Corps B-17 radio operator stationed in the Philippines during World War II. After his return from the War he married Estelle Beato from Floral Park, New York. He worked for a construction company on Long Island that won the bid to build Page Manor (military housing for Wright Patterson Air Force Base) and was sent to Dayton, Ohio to coordinate and manage the construction. Soon thereafter, he moved his wife and daughter, Gail, to Ohio. After the completion of the Page Manor project they remained in Ohio and moved to Beavercreek. There they were blessed with their second daughter, Betty. During this time he partnered in his own business, 4C's Drywall, also located in Beavercreek.

Chick was an extremely patriotic and proud man with an abundance of integrity and a true sense of right and wrong. Athletically, he excelled at baseball, softball, golf, and was a skilled dance skater. He was also a humane man and an animal lover... this he passed on to his daughters.

Mr. Cooper is best remembered for the impact he made on the youth of yesteryear. He was the Girls Softball Coach for St. Helen's during the 1960's and continued coaching "his girls" throughout their adulthood. He profoundly impacted each and every one of their lives, especially those who were troubled or in need, and he is sorely missed to this day.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, George Cooper formerly of Saugerties, NY and Isabelle Steele-Schultz formerly of Long Island, NY. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Estelle; his daughters, Gail Stephens of Waynesville, OH and Betty (Elizabeth) Daggitt and son-in-law, Mike Daggitt of Reston, VA; his grandchildren, Phillip Stephens of Springboro, OH and Lisa Finchum of Waynesville, OH; Michael Daggitt and Susan Schnupp of Ashburn,VA; his great granddaughters, Macy Taylor Stephens, and Abigail and Ella Daggitt; and great grandsons, Tate Alexander Stephens and Adam Finchum.

His wife, Estelle; his great granddaughter, Hope Finchum; his son-in-law Phil Stephens, Phil's mother, Mildred; and Chick's sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Virginia and Stanley Szczep, are all buried together in the "Phil & Gail" Stephens Family plots.

He was everything a husband and father is expected to be and our memories of him and what he stood for will last forever.
