OBIT:

Mrs. Ida Belle Halferty, 95, died Monday at 7 a.m at Bales Nursing Home. The daughter of Joseph and Glaphrey Whitson Estes, she was born February 27, 1869, at Ioka. She was married November 27, 1884, to Squire Halferty of Ollie.

The couple farmed many years in the Ollie community. For 39 years she resided in Sigourney. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Nellie Schroeder of Rock Island, Illinois; Mrs. Jack Johnson of Tracy; a son, Roy of Newton; 22 grandchildren, a large number of great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six daughters, Mrs. Eva Whitmer, Mrs. Clara Wallerich, Mrs. Blanche Schmidt, Mrs. Alta Coble, Mrs. Edna Maryfield and Miss Inez Halferty; and a son William.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. (CST) at the Sigourney Baptist Church with Arthur Lang officiated. Burial will be in Halferty Cemetery east of Ollie. The body is at Reynolds Funeral Home.
