Edith Faye Garvey , 84, of Medfield, formerly of Medway, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday May 25, 2016, just one day shy of her 85th birthday. She was the beloved wife of the late Frederick Garvey Jr. Born on May 26, 1931 in Bethel, Maine, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Nettie (Knight) Hall. Edith grew up in Oxford, Maine before moving to Medway in 1961 where she raised her family with her husband Frederick. For the past 13 years she had been a resident of Medfield where she was an active member at the Senior Center. Edith was a member of the Millis Bowling League and Medway Catholic Daughters. She was an avid gardener who also enjoyed making her own craft creations and sewing, cake decorating, furniture upholstering, flower arranging for family weddings, playing cards, and bird watching, to name a few! She loved having family and friends around her and is deeply loved by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed dearly but we know she is joyfully at home with the Lord. She is survived by her children, Antonio Cipriano and his partner LuAnn Hall of Hebron, Maine; Frederick Garvey III and his wife Vicky of Sterling, Mass.; Pamela Jean Winkelman and her husband Paul of Lima, Ohio; JoAnn MacCready and her husband David of Medfield, Mass.; and Terry Lea Paolino of Franklin, Mass. One of ten children, Edith is also survived by her siblings William Hall of Norway, Maine and Olive Sanborn of Oxford, Maine, as well as her 17 grandchildren and 7 greatgrandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral at the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, ( www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 3 Barber St. in Medway on Wednesday morning, June 1, at 9:15, followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, 151 Village St. in Medway. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Medway. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to "Friends of Medfield Seniors at The Center at Medfield," One Icehouse Road, Medfield, MA 02052.
