He attended Tomah Indian School, in Wisconsin and there learned the masonry
trade which he practiced in Charlevoix County before becoming employed at the Penn-Dixie Cement Plant where he worked until retirement. On Novemeber
10, 1910, he married the former Mary Webster who preceded him in death in 1968. His survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Nathaniel (Ann) Smith) of Bay Shore; three sons, Ray, of Gaylord, Homer, of Boyne City, and Gordon of Bay Shore , 20 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and one brother, Enos. Services were held at Greensky Hill Methodist Church.
