Lewis Whitehead Hunt,75, who had moved to Bigfork two days ago to make his home, passed away there early Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Hunt July 14,1891,in Delaware, Iowa, the sone of George Whitehead and Harriett Kratzer Hunt. He came to Kalispell in 1906 graduating from Flathead High School in 1910 and then attended the University of Montana. He served with the U.S.Marines during World War I and in 1921 married Virginia Galloway in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He with his wife made their home in Chicago, Ill.where Mr. Hunt was employed by the Chicago Daily News and became city editor of that newspaper. Later he was engaged as a public relations man for the Tuberculosis Institue and the Cook County Highway Department. Mr. Hunt was preceded in death by his brother, Howard J. (Bud) Hunt in Kalispell Jan. 10,1965. He is survived by his widow, Virginiga at their home in Bigfork;three children,Mrs. Kenneth (Harriett)Heimbuch of Kennsington, Calif; John Whitehead Hunt,Evanston, Ill.and Mrs. Oliver (Nancy) Harle, Berkley, Calif; seven grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. C.J.Forbis, Missoula. Funeral service for Mr. Hunt have been set for Saturday at 11 a.m.from the Christ Church (Episcopal)in Kalispell with Rev. Thomas R. Best officiating. Burial will follow in the Conrad Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the Waggener & Campbell Funeral Home. (courtesy of Burt Stevens)
