William is first found in the 1900 U.S. Census, Washington Twp. (Ney Village) Defiance Co. Ohio as 'Willie' Winsler, aged 14, in the household of his step-father, John McGath with his mother, Anna. William's first marriage was to Alma McFeters in Defiance Co. Ohio on August 19, 1905 (this marriage ultimately ended in divorce). William is next found in the 1910 U.S. Census, Pulaski Twp., Williams Co. Ohio as William F. Winsler, born 1886 in Indiana, with his wife, Alma, and children, Pauline and Theron Winsler. His WWI draft registration gives his full name as William Franklin Winsler, born Jan. 19, 1886. His occupation is inspector employed by the DeVilbiss Mfg. Co.; he is still married to his first wife. He is next found in the 1920 U.S. Census, Toledo Ward #7, Lucas Co. Ohio as a lodger. In that census, he is aged 34 and born in Indiana and his occupation is chief inspector at a steel factory. His second marriage was at Adrian, Lenawee Co. Michigan to Isabel A. Sharp, a native of Canada, on Jan. 19, 1924 (this marriage also apparently ended in divorce). There are some somewhat unusual things about William's death. An Ohio death certificate with the name 'George Winsler' states that he (George) died on July 27, 1935 at the Lucas Co. Hospital as the result of bronchopneumonia. His divorced wife 'Isabelle' is named in the record and his occupation is 'hospital orderly'. George's date of birth is noted as Jan 19, 1893 in Wabash Indiana. This was also reported in his death notice in the 'Toledo Blade' on Aug. 1, 1935. All identified census, marriage and draft records found are consistent with the 1886 birth date. His funeral and burial was reported in the 'Toledo Blade' on July 30, 1935 with the name 'William (George) Winsler'.
