Riley Bridget Fessenden, 9, passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 20, 2016 at the Kaplan Hospice Family House in Danvers. She was a true inspiration to all and fought her terrible disease to the end.
Born to Todd & Kamie (Huston) Fessenden of Beverly on April 9, 2007, Riley accomplished so much in her short life. She received an honorary degree from Endicott College in 2014. She spent countless hours with her cheering team and others to help raise money for The Jimmy Fund. Including two appearances at the WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio Telethon to share her story. Riley was presented with the Key to the city of Beverly by Mayor Cahill and the first week of January is declared Riley Fessenden Week. In June, Riley was nominated by state legislators and recognized as a 2016 Unsung Heroine Of Massachusetts for her outstanding contributions to the cancer community and the city of Beverly.
Some of Riley's favorite pastimes were going to work with her mom to help teach other little children- arts and crafts, card games, softball, cheering, spending time with family and friends at Lynch Park, swimming, eating popcorn and ice cream, and listening to Taylor Swift. Riley was a sparkly, happy, fun-loving, nurturing, giggly, funny, brave, strong, creative, smart and beautiful little girl. She will be missed by all.
Her funeral service will be held at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 253 Cabot St., Beverly, on Monday, July 25, 2016 at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. The family will be holding a private burial following the funeral. Visiting hours at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., Beverly, Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. Please wear your colorful Riley Rocks apparel or colors (Turquoise or Pink). In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Dr. Jonathan Marron, c/o Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place, Brookline, MA 02445.
