Bertha M. Nauer
Bertha M. "Dottie" Nauer, age 79 of Louisville, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Friday, June 15, 2007 in Mercy Medical Center following a recent illness.
Dottie was born December 30, 1927 in Bradford, PA to the late William and Mary (Allen) Bethune. She was energetic, independent and the last of thirteen children and the only child to continue her education beyond high school. Dottie had only two goals in life - to be a mother and a nurse. She was wonderfully successful at both. She graduated from Akron Practical Nursing School and spent her entire 40 year career at Akron City Hospital. She worked the night shift and loved her work and co-workers and her patients always felt the comfort of her care. Dottie was quick witted and enjoyed laughing and talking. Anyone who knew her knew all about her family whom she always spoke about with great pride. The most important thing in her life was her family and the time they spent together.
Dottie is survived by her children, Rodney G. (Jeanne) Bly, Mary D. Bly and Lisa R. Sanders; stepchildren, David (Becky) Nauer, Deborah (Doug) Currier, Gerald (Debbie) Nauer, Diane (Richard) Conrad, Patricia (Doug) Conant, Jeanne (Phil) Brown and Paul (Kyra) Nauer; twenty-two grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was blessed with two long and loving marriages. She was married to the late James L. Bly Sr. for 32 years and the late Gerald Nauer for 19 years.
Funeral services for Dottie will be conducted Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in the Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home in Louisville with Rev. Denise Whitesel of Peace United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Northlawn Memorial Gardens in Peninsula. Dottie's family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
