Flt Lt Church was educated at Newbury Grammar School. Upon leaving, he joined the Royal Flying Corps. After flying over the trenches under fire in France, he lost a leg from wounds received. In 1922 in Coventry, he married Vera Irene Loydall--b.1902 Rugby: d.1989 Leeds.
During WW 2, he was an inspector for the Ministry of Aircraft Production. Visiting Birmingham in July 1945, he was returning home to Coventry when he was involved in a car accident. He died a few days later at the Birmingham General Hospital of his injuries on 29 July. He left a wife and daughter, Joan Pamela--b.1923-- d.1996 Eastbourne.
