Harold F. Brown of West Pittston passed away Friday, July 15, 2016, at home.

Harold was born in West Pittston in 1921, the son of the late Harold W. and Cathleen V. English Brown. He was a graduate of the West Pittston High School and was the captain of his football team. He was a devoted member of the Corpus Christi parish in West Pittston.

After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. 1st Company 3rd Battalion 25th Marine Division under the command of "Jumpin Joe Chamber," known as the Raiders. He was in the second wave to land in Iwo Jima. Harold was also a member of American Legion Post 542, West Pittston.

Harold was proceeded in death by his wife, Lena, in 2013; a brother, Joseph; and a sister, Dorothy Brown.

Harold is survived by his daughters, Cathy Cefalo and her husband, Joe, Exeter; Mary Kay Baloga and her husband, Dr. Michael C., Exeter; grandchildren, Josette Cefalo, Dr. Michael Baloga and Kayla Baloga; cousins, James English and wife, Joanne, West Pittston; cousin, Mary Pat Hamm and husband EC, Virginia Beach, Virginia; brother-in-law Leo DelSerra; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. from Howell-Lussi Funeral Home 509 Wyoming Ave., West Pittston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. in Corpus Christi Parish, Immaculate Conception Church, Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston. Internment will be in West Pittston Cemetery. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.

The family would like to than Dr. James Bruno for the exceptional personal and medical care over the years and also to the Sacred Heart Hospice for the high quality of medical care and support.
