Aaron B. Hershey, 87, passed away Friday, July 22, 2016, at his residence, with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of Mary L. (Myers) Hershey of York, with whom he celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on April 30.
Mr. Hershey was born in Kralltown on November 28, 1928, son of the late John K. and Anna Ruth (Burkhart) Hershey.
Aaron was employed by the Caterpillar International, retiring after 17 years of service, prior employed by the Jewel Tea Co. as a salesman; following retirement, employed as a part-time Tip Staff employee for Judge Penny Blackwell at the York County Judicial Center.
He was an active member of Shiloh United Church of Christ, York. Additional memberships included Masonic York Lodge #266, Free and Accepted Masons of PA, Tall Cedars of Lebanon York Forest #30, Square Club of York, and the Hawk Gunning Club.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Kathy Waltman and her husband, Kenneth; a son, Greg Hershey and his wife, Karen; four grandchildren, Melissa Aguirre and her husband, Gus, Kenneth Waltman, Jr. and his wife, Deena, Michelle Smith and her husband, Jeff and Justin Hershey and his wife, Ronay; five great-grandchildren, Jacob and Emily Waltman, Andre Aguirre, Benjamin and Elliott Smith; three sisters, Eva Hertzler, Ada Rohrer and Grace Gish. He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Martha Mae Hershey; two sisters, Ethel Gross and Mary Benner; and five brothers, Roy, Lester, Noah, Harold and Paul Hershey.
Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, July 25, 2016 at Shiloh United Church of Christ, 2251 Willow Rd., York. Officiating will be his pastors, Sue D'heedene and Pat Mullen. There will be a viewing from noon to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Final resting place will be in Shiloh Cemetery.
At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh United Church of Christ Memorial Fund, 2251 Willow Rd., York, PA 17408.
