John Sebastian Bongirno, 64, of Colorado Springs, Colo., born Sept. 30, 1951, to Marion and Kathryn (Cacciatore) Bongirno, passed away on June 26, 2016.
He was born and raised in Pueblo, graduated from Pueblo South High in 1969, and from Sou-thern Colorado State College in 1972. John is survived by his loving wife, Alice; daughter, Cara; son, Chase (Melissa); and grandson, Sebastian; also survived by brother, Joe Bon-girno; sister, Jody (Randy) Workman; goddaughter, Randi Lynn Moore; godson, Sage Workman; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be truly missed by his family, friends and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his parents; and also his in-laws, Jaunia (Baker) and G.B. Hopkins. John resided in Leadville, Colo., from 1972 until 1982. John loved to camp, fish, shoot and spend time with his grandson. He was a captain with the Department of Corrections, where he had worked for 24 years. A special thanks to niece, Nikki Petric; friends, LaVonna Casey and Katie O’Brien. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2016, at the VFW Post No. 5812, 127 E. Spaulding, Pueblo West. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donation to Bonfils Blood Center.
