STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Michael Lorito, 50, of Westerleigh, a retired piano restoration finisher who loved being with his family, died Sunday on November 15, 2015 in Richmond University Medical Center, West Brighton.

Beloved husband of Mary Ann (nee Gigante). Loving father of Michael.

Born in Brooklyn, he moved with family to Westerleigh as a boy and graduated from Port Richmond High School.

Mr. Lorito worked for Steinway Pianos in Queens for about 10 years, as a furniture finisher in the restoration department.

He enjoyed boating and cars, and had a soft spot for rabbits. He bought one for his son when he was a toddler, then another to keep the first company, and after giving away the babies still had four at home as pets.

He and Mary Ann Gigante met through a friend, but didn't really begin dating until several years later. They celebrated their 15th anniversary on Wednesday.

Mr. Lorito was always smiling, especially when he was with his family. He was friendly and caring, and enjoyed helping people. He also was meticulous and wanted everything to be as perfect as possible, family said.

He was close to his many cousins and to his uncles, and enjoyed their company.

Mr. Lorito was a parishioner of St. Adalbert's R.C. Church, Elm Park.

Surviving, along with his wife, Mary Ann, is his son, Michael.

The funeral will be Thursday from the Matthew Funeral Home, Willowbrook, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Adalbert's Church. Burial will follow in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
