Randall "Randy" S. Pierce, 65, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2016, in the Akron General Hospital, Akron, Ohio, from complications as a result of a fall on July 4, 2016.
Randy was born on Nov. 13, 1950, in Anderson to Jack and Doloris (Gibson) Pierce and has lived in Alexandria since 1979. He was graduated from Lapel High School, Class of 1968, and he also attended IUPUI.
Randy was a member of the Indiana National Guard for six years. He retired from General Motors, having worked for both the Fort Wayne Truck Division and Delphi for 38 years.He had also worked in housekeeping at Community Hospital in Anderson.
Randy was an avid bicyclist and was a member of the Spoke and Wheel Bicycle Club. He was a skilled guitarist and played in the praise band for both the Christian Congregation Church where he attended for several years and more recently at the Bethel United Methodist Church where he currently attended. Randy was also a member of the SmallTown Garden Club, and he volunteered at Community Hospital in Anderson. He was an avid car enthusiast and a loyal fan of Formula 1 Racing. Because of the musical legacy Randy leaves us, his song will carry on in our hearts and memories.
Survivors include wife, Sharon (Handshue) Pierce, married Dec. 28, 1979; daughters, Amy (Ryan) Zink, Tampa, Fla., Sally (Ryan) Wittman, Las Vegas, Nev., and Brittany (Justin) Caudill, Savannah, Ga.; grandchildren, Alyssa, Zoe, Riley, Samson and Henry; father, Jack Pierce, Anderson; brother, Paul Pierce, Anderson; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Doloris Pierce.
Services honoring Randy's life and legacy will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 29, 2016, in the Christian Congregation Church, 11015 N. 300 East, Alexandria. The Rev. William Garver and Pastor Jerry Young will officiate. Cremation will follow the services.
Family and friends may call at the Christian Congregation Church from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and on Friday after 10 a.m. prior to the services.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association through the funeral home.
Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria is honored to care for Randy and the Pierce family.
