Ruth Louise Bingham, of Dallas, TX, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2016, with loving family by her side.
Ruth Louise was born on Aug 18, 1924, in Okla. City, OK, to John Bryan and Mattie Louise Carney. She was lovingly raised along with her brother, John Bryan, Jr. She was educated in Okla. City, graduated from Classen HS, and went on to graduate with a bachelor's degree in Education/ Home Economics from Central State University, in Edmond, OK. She received a Master's degree from University of Oklahoma, in Norman, OK. She later went back to get a secondary teaching certificate from Central State University. She and her family were very active at Trinity Baptist Church in Okla. City. Here, she attended and taught Sunday school, worked on many mission projects, played piano, sang in the choir, and remained an active member for 75 yrs. She assisted with the many church activities of her 6 children. She loved the many years spent with her Sunday school and church friends.
Ruth was married to Park A. Bingham, from 1950 to 1973. As a devoted and loving wife, she worked for several years as a teacher in Okla. City. Park and Ruth had 6 beloved children, whom she thoroughly adored and enjoyed raising full time. She volunteered for many community activities involving her children. She loved cooking and sewing, and picnics with family. After her children were school-aged, she taught middle school full time for many more years. She was a substitute teacher after retirement, as she loved working with young people so much. Ruth was a loving, tireless caretaker for her mother for many years, after Louise suffered several strokes. Ruth loved people and social activities. She also loved to travel around the world, especially with her children.
Ruth lived in Okla. City until 2010, when she moved to Dallas, TX, to be closer to her adult children. She lived in Treemont Retirement Center for almost 5 years, stayed very active and enjoyed her friends tremendously, especially playing dominos and games.
Ruth is survived by her six children, Park Bingham, Jr and wife Beverly, Judy Corr and husband Brad, Ann Carter and husband Terry, Susan Wheeler and husband Jim, William Bingham and wife Donna, and Linda Bingham; thirteen grandchildren, Jeff Bingham and wife Michelle, Nathan Bingham, Matthew Bingham, Miranda Bingham, Bradley Corr II, Brian Corr and wife Ashley, Nathan Corr, Tiffany Armas and husband Gabriel, Chris Carter, James Wheeler II, Kristina Wheeler, Leslie Engle and husband Jared, Bryan Bingham and wife Taylor; ten great grandchildren, Jack, Kate and Luke Bingham, Aiden, Ethan and Ava Armas, Aliyah Carter, Alexa and James Wheeler III, and Kamdyn Engle; sisters-in-law Marjorie Carney and Doris Samples; cousins Vivian Crowder, Dale Crowder and Walt Schumaker; nephews John Carney, Cecil Bingham, Chris Bingham, and nieces Nancy Christensen, Cathy Caudle, Linda Pentino, Teresa Bishop, Darlene Horton, and Linda Kay Crowder.
Ruth will be buried at Rose Hill Burial Park, 6001 NW Grand Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK.
